Facebook seeks a talented and flexible Associate General Counsel to join the legal privacy team supporting Facebook’s virtual reality and augmented reality business, including Oculus and Portal. Oculus invents, manufactures and sells industry leading virtual reality headsets and operates a global virtual reality content and social platform. The Portal team is building and shipping hardware, software, and content that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most.

In this role you will advise on a range of privacy and data protection legal and compliance initiatives relating to augmented reality and virtual reality. This requires the ability to both work independently and with large multi-stakeholder teams. We are looking for someone with sharp analytical and communication skills, who is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and has demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a legal expert on the impact of legislative, regulatory, legal and industry developments involving privacy
  • Support members of the legal, comms and policy teams on privacy legal matters
  • Assist AR/VR lawyers in evaluating impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions on Oculus and Portal devices, platforms, and experiences
  • Participate in the development and management of terms and policies
  • Work with policy and legal team to develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives
  • Coordinate with marketing and communications colleagues on multi-disciplinary issues
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience
  • Experience advising clients on legal issues related to privacy and data use, including the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal informatio
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with emerging technologies and hardware devices
  • Knowledge and application of international privacy and data use regulations
