Job Description:

Overview:  As the Wholesale Banking Technology – Fin Tech Innovation lead you will have responsibility for leading innovation concepts from ideation through prototype development and testing.  You will work closely with business leaders, internal domain experts, external FinTech partners, technology, architecture & strategy, emerging technology and sourcing to solve business problems and to test and learn new banking services / capabilities that will drive future innovation.

Additionally, you will be responsible for completing the business case and for championing the production deployment of any solutions approved for funding/prioritization.

Key responsibilities include:

Transform the Business – Be bold and strategic, leveraging emerging technologies to drive transformative change within the business processes while recognizing that change often takes time, investment and coordination. Look at opportunities for greater impact (joint business initiatives for example), partnerships, etc.

Drive the FinTech Agenda – Identify, assess, and execute against opportunities to improve the client lifecycle (prospect identification / prioritization, credit delivery, onboarding, servicing and deepening) and banker effectiveness (talent analytics, training, sales performance, relationship management, etc).  Work will be completed in the context of the Emerging Technology / FinTech agenda.

Drive Innovation for the Business – There are a multitude of use cases where technology (machine learning, deep analytics, voice analytics, robotic process automation, intelligent bots, etc.) can be used to solve business challenges.  You will be responsible for developing use cases, business requirements, coordinating with our partners on build vs. buy solutions, build business cases, manage execution plans, etc.

Commercial Acumen: this individual needs a detailed understanding of IT economics and how it works in large heterogeneous environments will impact short and long-term expenses. This acumen is critical to communicate internally and to the business early on in the research of the use of a particular piece of technology.

An Enterprise Mindset: individual has to look broader than the business they are working with.  With an the initial focus is Global Banking, the right candidate will push outside of that area of scope so Banking & Markets realizes value across the group.

Other areas of responsibility include:

Lead and proactively manage innovation concepts through Architecture & Strategy, the Emerging technology team, and the FinTech council.
Develop concept briefs and related analysis and documentation; progress concepts through all levels of the innovation (from Articulation through Prototype Testing) and work with the Product / Sales teams to transition successful concepts from POC to piloting.
Engage with domain experts on identified concepts (internal and external), Strategy & Advisory and clients throughout the innovation process to develop and refine innovation business cases and experimentation objectives.
Lead and partner with internal/external Tech partners to build prototypes of the innovation concepts and systematically gather feedback from clients (internal/external) by leveraging principles of design-based thinking.
Establish and maintain working relationship with all internal support teams engaged in the concept development, design and testing process as well as external partners from the FinTech community.
Represent BAML and articulate our innovation agenda at internal and external events such as client meetings, advisory boards and conferences (as needed)
Identify new innovation concepts for experimentation
Ensure learning’s from innovation concepts are fed back to the FinTech council/organization and manage prototype projects within budget and within agreed upon timeframes.

Required Skills:

Must have the ability to understand emerging technologies and drive client contextualized conclusions from independent research and operate in ambiguity.
Must have an understanding of emerging technologies including distributed ledger, artificial intelligence / machine learning, API’s, and cloud.
Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and an understanding of financial technology within a business context.
Must be highly motivated and tenacious; perseverant and resilient in pursuing objectives despite challenges.
Must be a self-starter with a passion for problem solving through collaboration with internal teams, external FinTech partners and clients.
Must have experience developing business cases to support investment requests.
Strong project management skills. Possess mature business judgment and be proactive, well organized and results-oriented. Be able to manage multiple resources to completion of quality deliverables in a pressured, time-sensitive environment with multiple competing priorities without having direct authority.
Strong personal presence and communication skills (verbal and written) are needed to partner with, establish credibility with, and influence senior executives (internal and external). Ability to navigate the bank quickly and successfully excelling in a matrix environment.
Must have ability to work in a fast paced, cross-functional environment
Must have ability/willingness to travel as needed
Responsible for directing the day-to-day finance activities for a business unit or associate area. Activities include strategic and annual planning and implementation, profitability analysis, forecasting and financial reporting. Manages partner relationships and associates. Considered a working manager. In addition to supervisory / administrative duties, individuals are actively involved in the execution of processes. Assists management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
