  • Overall responsibility for managing Commercial Bank AML risk for APAC through oversight of the Firm’s AML/CFT Program (“the Program”)
  • Working closely with the wider business and LOB Compliance to ensure the LOBs comply with the Firm’s policies and standards, as well as local laws and regulations in APAC. 
  • Ensure adherence to the BSA/AML, Anti-Corruption, and Sanctions Compliance requirements
  • Support the regional Commercial Bank business in ensuring that the Program is fully implemented, embedded and kept up to date
  • Act as the final point of approval/escalation in matters of KYC, AML Monitoring and Suspicious Activity Reporting as well as making decisions on further escalations regionally as and when required for Commercial Bank related matters
  • Ensure that the Head of CIB GFCC is appropriately advised of material regional Commercial Bank AML issues
  • Develop and implement projects to quantify impacts and implement actions to address, manage and mitigate impacts of AML risk within Commercial Bank in the Region
  • Evaluate, monitor and quality assure existing procedures and develop new procedures and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with current AML local regulations and the Firm’s minimum standards as prescribed under the appropriate Global AML Policies and Standards.
  • Monitor and risk assess new and upcoming laws, regulations, policies, procedures and products affecting country as and when they arise
  • Provide guidance, advice and risk based solutions to complex regional business issues/initiatives in this high risk environment
  • Deliver and progress monitor in-country AML training and testing programs to closure. Ensure existing training and testing programs are appropriate and tailor additional content where required
  • Work alongside the regional team on global and regional initiatives, including risk assessments, training and ongoing awareness
  • Coordinate with US counterparts, global onboarding teams and sales teams to aid in client KYC matters
  • Conduct regular AML training on the Firm’s policies and procedures to business staff in line with Regional and Global AML Programs
  • Produce, review and act on any AML related management information at an APAC level as required from the Firm’s MIS reporting framework
  • Deal on a timely basis with enquiries from Regulators, Law Enforcement Bodies and internally from the business
  • Support implementation of the Commercial Bank’s Global AML Program for Asia Pacific and support other AML units on an ad-hoc basis
  • Follow-up market developments and new AML rules/regulations in Asia Pacific; work with Business and Control Functions to ensure new rules are appropriately implemented & monitored.

Experience:

  • Law / Accounting / Business / Finance Degree
  • Minimum 7-8 years (VP level) experience in AML with a focus on Commercial Bank discipline, preferably with a global financial institution.
  • An expert on APAC AML regulatory requirements, including in-depth practical experience in implementing and advising on Commercial Bank products
  • Some basic knowledge of the banking industry. Knowledge of cash management or some experience with the corporate banking business will be a plus
  • Experience in regulatory investigations, control function, compliance, exam and audit management preferable. Prior experience in AML Compliance is mandatory.
  • Experience in handling US regulatory matters (e.g. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Office of Foreign Assets Control) and global/regional implementation would be a plus
  • Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues
  • Seasoned professional with experience in one or more senior risk compliance roles, to include significant AML experience
