Come join Qualcomms ARM-based server chipset solutions business operated by Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies, Inc. (QDT) which is developing and marketing server CPU SOC solutions to mega data center operators and server OEMs. Under direction of the VP, Legal Counsel for QDT, the new QDT attorney will provide legal support to the business with respect to a broad range of matters, including but not limited to:

  • procurement of third party IP for inclusion in QDTs products, as well as EDA tools used in development and design of semiconductor products, and semiconductor manufacturing services
  • agreements with target customers (primarily in the USA and in China) to evaluate our technology and products, and ultimately commercially supply them and often their authorized purchasers with server chipset solutions
  • the development of a hardware and software ecosystem for servers using QDT server chipset solutions
  • the marketing of QDT products and technologies -distribution arrangements to enable resales of QDTs products
  • advising with respect to the use and distribution of open source software in QDT products and technologies

supporting QDTs licensing, services and distribution arrangements with Qualcomm’s server chip joint venture with the Provincial Government of Guizhou, China The position will work closely with the QDT legal, sales/bus development, engineering, procurement, product management, marketing and operations functions, as well as with other functions both at QDT and its corporate affiliates that support the QDT business. Minimum Qualifications

  • CA state bar admission, or other states bars with ability to become licensed under in-house requirements
  • minimum of 10 years experience with technology transactions, particularly with respect to semiconductors, including IP licensing and open source software
  • in-house experience at technology company
  • demonstrated intensive contract drafting training/experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD from nationally accredited and recognized law school
  • willingness to work on all matters, large and small; team-player
  • specific industry experience within the server semiconductor industry, such as working for a mega data center operator supporting its infrastructure group, or a technology supplier to a mega data center operator or its suppliers.
  • demonstrated experience directly advising non-legal people on complex business arrangements involving complex legal issues, in terms they can understand -international commercial transactional experience, particularly in China.
  • experience and comfort working in a matrix-based organization
  • willingness and ability to travel for business, including internationally
  • strong familiarity with software development and licensing, and legal issues associated with open source software
  • demonstrated strong legal experience, and good business acumen, to inspire confidence in advice about risk-taking
  • experience with patent licensing and standards organizations
