Overview

We’re looking for an experienced lawyer who is excited to operate in an energizing environment with broad responsibilities. We want your legal smarts, business sense, a strong work ethic and a good personality because you’ll be dealing with challenging legal issues. You will need to be able to operate independently and work actively with various teams across the organization. You have significant experience supporting original content deals. Ideally, you have worked in-house at an advertising agency or entertainment/media company, or have worked for clients in one or more of these industries at a law firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure, negotiate and draft content production agreements, creative services agreements, and licenses with brands, creators, creative service providers, and IP rights holders in connection with the production and monetization of branded campaign content
  • Provide dedicated legal and business affairs support to Niche’s leadership deal leads for brand and content partner transactions, including participating in Niche client meetings and strategy sessions
  • Advise the business on risk, rights clearances (including music), and labor/guild issues
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Niche and stay up-to-date on entertainment, advertising (including FTC disclosure guidelines for influencers and brands), copyright, trademark, rights of publicity, music licensing, labor/guild (including SAG), and other legal and business issues related to Niche’s content production business

Qualification:

  • Current awareness in all areas of culture (news, sports, music, movies, TV, technology, fashion, etc.)
  • Significant experience with entertainment, intellectual property (especially copyright and rights of publicity),
  • FCC, FTC, advertising, sports, licensing, and contract law
  • Demonstrated sound business and legal judgment
  • Independent mindset, creative, flexible, self-starting and hard-working
  • Comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid change
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to lead and effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously Strong written and oral communication skills

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, including support of complex content production agreements, ideally at both a law firm and an advertising agency or entertainment/media company
  • A track record of success in working in conjunction with business clients in support of innovative content creation and production
  • J.D. and California Bar admission in good standing (or qualified for and willing to apply for/maintain Registered In-House Counsel status with California State Bar)
