The Investment Analyst  is primarily responsible for conducting ongoing research, analysis, and due diligence related to the various investment platforms offered within the Wealth Management division.  Position will assist in investment reporting, manager search and selection, and the administration of the investment platforms.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.  Non-essential functions identified with an asterisk ‘*’



Accountable for the completion of quarterly due diligence reports and ongoing due diligence reporting.  Monitors investment products on a quarterly basis regarding performance, fees, risk-adjusted returns, manager changes, and other changes related to the product.  Creates and maintains various analytical reports that illustrate both the qualitative and quantitative factors related to the investment strategies included on the investment platforms.  Document results of due diligence to ensure adequate reporting for compliance with regulatory bodies and internal policies and procedures.  Assists in the maintenance of approved working lists for mutual funds, SMAs, and ETFs.  Utilizes various reporting software products (Zephyr, Morningstar Direct, PerTrac, etc.) to accomplish these initiatives.



Responsible for the development and maintenance of a due diligence reporting database (PerTrac, Excel, etc.).  to meet ongoing reporting needs and maintain appropriate documentation for current and future use.  Utilizes database to develop and execute automated technological solutions for ongoing reports and reporting needs.  Also maintains appropriate electronic and hard copy files for due diligence and team needs outside of database.



Position is responsible for communicating investment research and findings persuasively through oral and written reports and presentations.  Responsible for analyzing findings and presenting detailed recommendations to internal parties.



Position will be responsible for special projects or duties as assigned by the Manager, Investment Research & Due Diligence.  These duties may include:  responsibility for monthly research, analysis and support, internal and external presentations or reports, specific research requests or white papers, compliance, market/economic commentary, etc.



Communicates with administrators, portfolio managers and relationship managers regarding due diligence. Utilizes various resources to stay abreast of due diligence issues in order to provide portfolio and relationship managers with knowledge of platform-related changes.



Maintains relationships through meetings and phone calls with investment product representatives servicing our organization (mutual fund representatives, SMA platform, etc.).  Utilizes resources of these support organizations to stay abreast of the industry, market and products in order to provide innovative ideas and insight to the Investment Research & Due Diligence team.  Also includes forwarding research/information to appropriate internal audiences, keeping intranet site updated with relevant data, etc.



Assists in the administration, management and reporting for investment strategies and services offered by SIAG (WealthBuilder, MAP, SAF, consulting etc.).  Evaluates, creates and executes automated technological solutions to enable SIAG to effectively and efficiently administer its strategies and other department initiatives.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and  licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position


  • Thorough knowledge of various securities and investment related products and services i.e. stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and international investing
  • Thorough knowledge of mutual funds or finance related analytical experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills.  Ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations and discuss investment products with internal clients
  • Proficient  PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.  Must be able to systematically gather relevant information and apply logic to solving problems and make decisions; interprets various types of data; sees the relationships and inter-relationships among concepts, issues or situations; handles numerical data with ease, speed, accuracy and precision.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MorningStar Direct, Zephyr Style Advisor and/or PerTrac
  • Ability to manage relationships with external and internal partners
  • The maturity and professional experience necessary to interact and consult effectively with internal professional staff and outside parties on an independent basis.
  • Ensures that information is always reviewed and presented in a thorough and accurate manner; precisely captures information to complete work accurately; focuses on the smaller elements and/or the fine points of material or processes.
  • Works well in a team environment; self-motivated; results oriented; ability to multi-task


This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and 3-5 years related experience in investment industry or a Masters Degree and relevant industry designation (CFA, CFP, etc).
