Symetra’s Corporate Finance team is looking for a full time Investment Analyst to work on the Banking and Investment Services team, which is responsible for the appropriate accounting and reporting of our $37B investment portfolio. The Investment Analyst is a key participant in the Company’s accounting close and reporting cycle. Responsibilities may include internal reporting package preparation, performance return calculations and analysis, compliance backup functions, and writing reports in our investment management system. The Investment Analyst must have a foundational understanding of investments, a strong team-player mentality and desire to learn, as well as an ability to manage and summarize large amounts of data.Responsibilities: Coordinate with investment and finance personnel to gather, analyze and prepare internal and external investment financial reports. Translate large datasets into meaningful analysis for a wide audience. Calculate and analyze the Company’s investment portfolio performance returns across asset types, investment managers and in aggregate. Act as a liaison between Investment Reporting and Investment Operations to investigate and resolve data-related inquiries. Monitor, analyze, and report on the Company’s investment trade activity. Maintain the Company’s investment credit ratings dataset. Provide reports to support the investment front office. Demonstrate a strong understanding of assigned subject matter. Support month-end close and reporting cycles. Partner with Investment Accounting team members to streamline processes and workflows with an emphasis on building value, transparency and sustainability. Maintain procedural documentation for assigned areas. Develop, or use, technical report writing skills in order to create reports in our performance, compliance and reporting system, Anova. Assist in new report development, understand and document business requirements and help develop solutions. Support the investment compliance function by serving as a backup as needed. Fulfill ad-hoc requests as they arise.
