Job Description

FinTech Strategy & Partnerships is a new group that helps drive innovation at BNY Mellon in collaboration with FinTech companies.  Our primary mandate is to work across BUs to help incorporate FinTech solutions into the various strategic initiatives by executing partnerships, JVs and strategic investments with leading FinTech companies.

The role will initially provide support functions for the group with the expectation of expanded responsibilities with experience. A strong work ethic and willingness to engage in all levels of activities is critical.

Tangible activities include:

Ownership of enterprise-wide activity tracking lists, use cases and projects.  Structured and prioritize projects will be presented to senior executives monthly
Maintaining weekly FinTech news list (and distributing to relevant parties), track and maintain strategic partnerships news for targeted BNYM competitors, provide FinTech team with relevant research
Engage – along with senior team members – with BUs around new projects and assist in vetting opportunities
Assist FinTech team in all facets of strategy and partnership assignments
Provide support on active partnership engagements by assisting BUs on tracking, valuation and strategic reviews
Ensure clear communications between all stakeholders
Create financial and investment models with oversight by senior team members
Develop the skills required to engage external clients/customers on problem statements and   potential solution sets
Internally engage the necessary resources to execute on client-facing / supported projects
Support development of term sheets and legal agreements
Facilitate execution of ad-hoc projects with senior team members
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required. Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant research experience or a Graduate Degree with 1+ years of relevant experience. Relevant experience will be in technology, financial or academic research settings. Graduate Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Engineering preferred. 3+ years of relevant experience in technology, financial, or academic research settings. Strong work ethic, demonstrated problem solving abilities, structured analytical skills and thinking, strong communication and inter-personal skills, strong PowerPoint, good Excel capabilities (examples may be requested). Corporate technology and capital markets-related technology familiarity a plus, familiarity with Investment Services and Investment Management a plus.
