To assist the Head of Governance and Compliance with the coordination; facilitation and management of the Compliance function for the Division through monitoring; reporting and developing networks; providing advice to minimise regulatory; reputational and compliance risk and endeavour to avert potential litigations/ penalties and ultimately increase shareholder value for the bank.
Assist the Head of Governance and Compliance to set annual budget for Business Unit/Cluster compliance function. Ensuring adherence to budget. Ensure expert advice on risk and compliance is provided. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. Ensure governance and compliance officers communicate relevant regulatory requirements to the business effectively. Ensure that governance and compliance officers implement consistent methodologies within the Business Unit. Assist managers within the Business Unit to monitor risks related to governance and compliance by providing guidance or offering expert advice to governance and compliance officers. Ensure transformational target are met. Contribute to a culture of transformation by participating in Nedbank culture building initiatives, business strategy, and CSI. Participate in developing, implementing and addressing issues raised in culture surveys to improve results. Create a client service culture. Achieve operational excellence. Encourage team to generate innovative ideas and share knowledge. Manage performance of staff by implementing performance agreements and ensuring a clear vision. Mentor and coach staff on identified performance gaps. Motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of the business by creating environment of teamwork through engaging with staff (sharing information) and encouraging participation in decision making processes. Stay abreast in field of expertise and deliver on the expectations from stakeholders. Contribute to team effectiveness by following the recruitment process when recruiting talent. Maintain high performing team, ensuring optimal performance environment is created by identifying talent pool through career conversations, using the talent grid principles and developing talent retention programmes. Ensure self and staff understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and salues by leading by example. Manage the on boarding process of new employees. Manage relationship with Business Unit’s risk management division and internal auditors. Ensure an aligned understanding of adherence to governance and compliance regulations. Ensure that dashboard and/or quarterly compliance reports are submitted on time. Ensure governance and compliance objectives are met by providing necessary support to the Head of Governance and Compliance.
