Overview

Our client, a highly regarded international bank is seeking an AVP, Financial Crime Assurance Compliance professional.

The Compliance person will be responsible for conducting quality assurance, examinations, and testing of the investment bank, corporate bank and other divisions to ensure adherence to all anti-money laundering and financial crime matters.

By executing assurance work, the Financial Crime Assurance role Compliance professional will contribute to the development of Financial Crime capability by constructively challenging its on-going effectiveness and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. The position entails conducting assurance activities of financial crime processes within the firm.

Overall purpose of role

• Provide timely feedback to the manager and team members with progress on identified issues and observations raised during the assignment.
• Display professional scepticism, raising and discussing contentious observations with management and provide evidence to support all issues identified to obtain management agreement of the issues raised.
• Assist the review lead in the drafting of the compliance report by providing input into the content of the report and confirming that the report meets the minimum requirements per the methodology.
• Provide timely feedback to the manager and team members with progress on identified issues and observations raised during the assignment.
• In partnership with other areas of Financial Crime, investigate issues (actual or perceived) as directed by Global Leads and/or Regional Heads.
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, with the company’s Operational Risk Framework and internal Policies and Standards.

The role requires:

Interacting with business, operations, compliance, infrastructure areas and other risk functions; assessing the design and operating effectiveness of systems and controls to mitigate financial crime risk; and driving remediation actions to close identified gaps.

Basic Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree preferable
• 3+ years of experience in Financial Crime, Legal, Compliance or Audit

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

• Have experience in Compliance, Financial Crime and/or internal audit (or equivalent).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, tough and resilient personality. Confident and positive individual able to communicate with clarity and purpose both in written and verbal formats. Able to communicate compliance issues in a non-technical way.
