RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Associate with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, UT. Conduct quantitative data analysis of private equity fund portfolios, including performance tracking, benchmarking analyses, and assessments of significant portfolio exposures and diversification. Identify market, portfolio, and manager risks and produce in-depth performance risk analyses. Enhance existing systems and assist in the development of new systems in order to increase efficiency within the business and deliver high quality, customized portfolio analysis to clients, prospects and senior management. Evaluate forecasts of future cash flows based on existing portfolios and potential transactions in order to determine the capital needs of the Firm’s Alternative Investments and Manager Selection (AIMS) managed private equity funds. Participate in capital management of AIMS managed private equity funds. Quantify public equity and foreign currency exposures to be used in hedge related portfolio decisions, including the development of models to facilitate these decisions. Determine the appropriateness of portfolio construction decisions to ensure compliance with governing documents and stated investment guidelines for various AIMS managed entities. Oversee the production and delivery of comprehensive private equity fund reporting. Facilitate closings of investment transactions and onboard new investments onto private equity platform and systems. Supervise three (3) Analysts.
Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in job offered or related private equity risk management position. Prior work experience must include three (3) years: utilizing Microsoft Excel to process and analyze large sets of private equity performance data to develop and test highly customized models and systems used in private equity portfolio management; applying legal and tax related concepts associated with the structuring of complex private equity transactions including economic and hedge leverage, deferred purchases, Alternative Investment Vehicles (AIVs), and tax blockers; applying quantitative concepts related to performance of private equity investments, such as internal rate of return, time value of money, regression analysis, statistics, and numerical methods; understanding of partnership fund accounting and financial statement analysis; utilizing knowledge of private equity reporting, including fund structuring, investment allocation and financial statement analysis and interpretation; constructing direct investment valuation models using discounted cash flows (DCF) and comparable company method; understanding company operating metrics and performance drivers such as revenue, EBITDA, net debt, and enterprise value.
